Thanks to our members’ support of the Southern’s Education Fund, member employees or employee’s children are eligible to win one of (3) $5,000 Accredited 4-year College/University Scholarships or (1) $2,000 2-year Community College, Trade or Technical School Scholarship. To apply for one of these scholarships, please complete the application and include all required items via the below form no later than December 15, 2018. Scholarship winners will be announced at the Southern’s Annual Meeting to be held in June 2019. Scholarship winners will be notified after the June meeting.
To be eligible to win one of the scholarships, the applicant must:
- Be a current Southern member company employee or the son or daughter of a “Southern” member company.
- Not be a previous Southern Scholarship winner.
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university/technical school/trade school in the Fall 2019.
- Be able to provide proof of school registration before a check can be cut (payable to the college or university) and sent to the “Southern” member/employer.
Selection of scholarship recipients will be made by the Southern’s Scholarship Committee on the basis of:
- This application;
- College or High School Grades;
- Original essay consisting of a maximum of approximately 750-1,000 typewritten words. This year’s essay is “What are you looking for in an employer once you get out of college…how would you define the perfect employer?”
Information you will need to start the application process:
- Name of the Southern Member company name and mailing address (where you or your parent works).
- Name and address of the College/University/Community College/Technical School you will attending starting in Fall 2019.
- Supporting documents such as College/High School Transcripts from last year/last term completed.
- Answer to Essay Question.
